Ok probably the only scary thing that has happened to me since I’ve been in Buenos Aires, except all the terrifying stories the Embassy told us, occurred tonight.

I had my first day of class, which was complicated, but fine, had a quick coffee with Robyn and then did some grocery shopping. By the time I was rounding the corner to get home, it was duskish, not to the point where I shouldn’t be out, but it wasn’t broad daylight anymore. When I get to the top of my block, I can never quite remember if my apartment entrance is the second from the end or the third, but regardless I see a giant man standing in front of the building, as I get closer I see that it is in fact my entrance and there was another, very sketchy guy holding the door open. I glanced in their direction, felt my stomach flip flop, my heart race and walked right on by. My host mom had told me that if there was every someone I didn’t recognize out front or in the lobby of the apartment to go around the corner and call her, so I did.

She came running down to get me, but because I knew they were right there, I was hiding on the other side of the building. She didn’t see me, went back up and got her phone to call me. By that time I had wondered a bit closer just to see if they were still there, neither of them were outside but as I got closer to the door I could see that the smaller one was inside. Susana came out and I told her he was still in there. She said not to say anything. When we got into the apartment itself she told me that the normal door/handyman was out on vacation and that was his substitute. She said that he also gave her a bad feeling. GREEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAT.

so now i’ve got a creeper who is supposed to guard my apartment. Please come back soon Miguel! (nice old man who keeps us safe normally)
